How I love Pyrex !

I'm on holiday from work but still had to go in and do 3 hours of my NVQ3 coursework with my tutor!
Not too bad as she is a really nice woman :)
so decided to cheer myself up with a trip to my favorite charity shop of course !

Glad I did as I saw this lot as soon as I walked in ....
All mine for the amazing price of ......
£1
!!!!!!
Here it all is tidied up, 9 cups, 12 saucers, 7 plates, milk and sugar , gravy boat and plate. in the Tempo carnaby design, I have a couple of steak plates and casseroles that match already.

In the back room, waiting to be priced, I saw these....
and the price turned out to be....
£1
!!!
Tally ho! design, only 3 cups, 4 side plates, 4 saucers, milk and sugar.

I hurriedly carried the box out to the car before they changed thier mind on the price !
Back inside and a bit more poking about found these two....
A litle JAJ pyrex jug and a tiny Salter scale (needs a wash ), the lighter is in the pic to show how small they are, and the price,.....

£1 the pair :)

Had another look in the china department and my daughter spied this ....
A Tremar cheese dish that matches the dinner set I got last week.
and the price ? you guessed it....

£1,

Headed for the bookshelves and found these...
you'll never guess the price,

£1 for all 3.

Time to travel across the carpark to the other building where they sell clothes and odds n ends,
Nothing much takes my fancy, so starting to feel a bit disapointed but, hidden amongst the curtain were these !!
They have to be the cutest kitchen curtains ever ! I've take the photo in 3 parts to show the whole of the design along the bottom. Pity I can't use them in my kitchen as they would hang over the cooker, but once I get out of this rented house, I am so going to design my kitchen around them, lol.
and the price ? ....
slight change here, they were £2 !

thank you for reading :)

At last, trip to the shop

The Charity shop is open again after christmas! Had a trip there today and got this 6 place dinner set (6 cups and saucers, 6 dinner plates, 6 side plates ) made by Tremar, for £2, it's really heavy, and the backs and edges aren't glazed, made in the early 80s I think, I really want to find the matching teapot/sugar/jug !
next, a cast iron egg holder, £1, it is shiny black but looks mucky in the photo due to the flash !

I haven't had many books lately from there as they have shut off the book room due to the ceiling falling in,
but donations are piling up all over therest of the shop, found these,
because they are all big hardbacks , cost me £3 altogether

Best freebie ever !

Last week we were given a free baby horse !

A friend of ours bought a pony and was given a rescued pony with it, as it's owner (who had rescued it) didn't have the space for him, She had found him all tied up in his tether chain so he couldn't move, his owner had just left him there and gone away on holiday, so she took him away and paid the bloke when he came back.
Anyway, our friend knows how well Amelia trains our horses, and asked if we would like him for Amelia to train, which was really weird as just the day before I had said I would love a quiet 'ploddy' cob for myself to get back into riding as my charging about days are well gone.
He is a 13.2hh cob cross trotter yearling so it will be a couple of years before I ride him, but it will give Amelia time to bombproof him !! He needs a new name as at the momment he's called Trio, and we are,'t too keen on it :)  *edited to add, we have chosen a new name, he is now Skylar !
This was him out for a walk

This is one of our other horses, Ruby, we've had her 10 years now

This weeks bits.

Holiday from work, supposed to be sorting out my kitchen, but couldn't resist a quick trip to the charity shop, yet more junk to add to the pile :)
I got a couple of pairs of jeans for £1.50 a pair and Amelia got yet another glass paperweight for £1, then as we were leaving , saw a dinner set tucked away in the 'to be priced' room. Typically 'her who prices' wasn't in, but I said if its under a tenner could they save it for me, they rang the office and said I could have it for £10, yay ! here it is...
6 x place settings (big plate, small plate, bowl, cup + saucer) teapot, milk and sugar.
It's Myott 'Melody' design, not as old as I first thought, it was discontinued in 1982 apparently.
Last time I went I got this big  JAJ pyrex  casserole and lid for 75p
and this Meakin jug 40p
one of my stacks of tat :)

What a bargain !

Hello again,
After several trips to the charity shop I had only spent 10p on a woden spoon for mixing the horse food, but,
yesterday I found this !!!!
Not much to look at yet but...

start to unfold the case...
and there she is ! a 1973/4 Singer Starlet (also named 'Genie' ) for the bargain price of £5, complete with box of spools, needles, selection of feet, and instruction book.
I got the husband to switch it on in case it blew up, but it ran for a good 10 mins before there was a crackle and a puff of smoke !
I took it apart and found it was very dusty inside but no sign of damage, the Husband switched it on and ran it on full speed for ages, and ages, but nothing else happened. I used it to patch up my daughters pants , using the zig zag stitch ! its brilliant .
 Next...
Also found these English Ironstone beefeater plates, theres 5 of them, they arrived last week, but had a £5 price tag so I resisted them, but they were reduced to £3, so I just had to get them :)

In the other part of the shop, which is in a different building, I found this JAJ pyrex dish for 75p,
and this pair of JAJ  plates, 50p

and this tea set, 4 cups, 6 saucers and 6 side plates, for £1.50,
they are Dorchester 'stars and stripes'.
Something turned up next that I've always fancied, A Goblin Teasmade, for £3,
So I've been having tea in bed, just a pity the alarm on it is terrifying !!! It's like something from a nuclear power plant warning theres a breech in the reactor !! certainly makes you leap out of bed !!!
Next a set of scales £1, bit boring but still a bargain,
and lastly, heres what I've been doing while watching TV,

I have no Idea what on earth I'm going to make with it when I've done !

but did get this Midwinter fashion tea set , 6 of each , cup, saucer and plate, for £3
the decoration is actually gold, but it doesn't really show up in the photo.

I also got some brand new slippers for £1.50, my lot all said they look like granny slippers but I don't care ! they are so warm and cosy, lol

My Mum brought me this glass chopping board up from Yorkshire on sunday, love it !
fingers crossed someone donates a microwave this week !

At last !!!!

After a couple of boring weeks , with nothing at either the car boot or charity shop, this week there were things I wanted !!
I only went to the charity shop because I had to drop off some donations, and the first thing I spotted as I went through the door was this !
Its the 113th edition, I can't work out the date, according to google it could be either 1923 or 1931, these are some of the adverts in the back,
inside the front cover
for some reason I was only charged 75p for this and another hardback (Peter Kay's 2nd book).
Next I spotted this table cloth,
close up on the embroidery,
Who ever made it was so neat with thier stitches, it's almost as lovely on the back. £2 well spent I think !
These 6 Enoch Wedgwood plates were just £1,
close up on the pattern, they are more purpley in real life,
Next up, a pair of Colclough 'Star dust' Cup, saucer and cake plate sets, £1 for the lot

I'm off back to the shop tomorrow as my microwave blew up yesterday and I'm hoping they have some in, they are usually about a fiver, you never realise how much you use a microwave until its gone!

I'm linking up with the magpie monday gang, so pop over there and enjoy !
toodleooooo :)
